I always love photographing in November, especially in Washington, DC. Most people think of October for fall color, but there is still so much warmth left in the trees in early November.
Sam and Emily’s engagement session began at the Jefferson Memorial on a crisp, colorful morning.
Of all the monuments in DC, the Jefferson Memorial has always been a favorite of mine. It’s beautiful year-round, and paired with the Tidal Basin and open space, it feels especially classic to the city.
We began their session here with a slightly more elevated look, which suited the setting so well. It was a chilly morning, so we kept things moving!
Early mornings in the city are always worth it—fewer crowds, soft light, and that quiet moment as the sun begins to rise.

From there, we made our way to Georgetown for the second half of their session.
Georgetown always brings a more overall dynamic feel to an engagement session in the city. The cobblestone streets and historic charm create something that feels relaxed, local, and full of character.
There’s so much to take in, especially in the fall. Even in early November, the trees still held onto their color, adding warmth and depth throughout the neighborhood.

Capturing Sam and Emily’s engagement session was an absolute joy.
They have such an easy, genuine connection—sweet, playful, and full of life. There’s a natural energy between them that made the entire morning feel light and effortless.
Sam and Emily, congratulations again on your engagement and upcoming wedding. It was such a joy meeting you, working together, and capturing this season for you. Wishing you both a lifetime of joy and many blessings!
