Experiencing sunrise in Washington, D.C. is a treat every time — the calm before the crowds, soft light on the water, and a slow, peaceful start to the day. It was exactly that kind of morning for Andrew and Abbey’s Jefferson Memorial engagement session this past April.
Even from our initial consultation call, I could sense the natural ease between them. Their connection is warm and sincere, and they carried that energy into every moment — relaxed, joyful, and completely themselves.
We began at the Jefferson Memorial, leaning into the iconic D.C. feel — sweeping marble steps, timeless architecture, and the glow of early morning light. I kept them moving throughout our time together, allowing for genuine, in-between moments and a sense of romantic life within their gallery.
As the city woke up, we shifted to Georgetown for part two of their session. The change was subtle but refreshing — from the formality of the memorial to a more relaxed, neighborhood atmosphere. At Tatte, with coffee in hand and the hum of the morning around them, they settled naturally into a quieter rhythm. It added a layer of warmth and simplicity to their story that I loved capturing.
From the iconic calm of the Jefferson Memorial to the cozy corners of a Georgetown café, their session unfolded in a way that felt seamless and true to who they are — classic, heartfelt, and full of meaning.
Andrew and Abbey, it was an absolute joy meeting you and photographing this session for you!
