Nathan + Sara’s Old Town Alexandria VA Engagement Photos
There are few better places for engagement photos than somewhere that already holds a piece of your heart. For Nathan and Sara, that place was Old Town Alexandria.
Their Alexandria VA engagement photos began at Josephine, the very restaurant where they had their first date. One week after meeting at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church following Divine Liturgy, Nathan picked Sara up for dinner in Old Town. Afterward, they walked to Kilwins for ice cream, continued along the waterfront, and talked from seven o’clock in the evening until midnight. Only when they realized the parking garage was about to close did they finally have to make a run back to the car!
Back Where Their Story Began
Returning to Josephine for their engagement session felt like the perfect full-circle moment. From there, we wandered through the streets of Old Town before ending the evening by the water, following much the same path as their very first date.
Nathan and Sara describe themselves as spontaneous, always eating, and always yapping—which, after spending an evening with them, feels like a pretty accurate description! They are easygoing, playful, and completely comfortable together. Conversation comes naturally to them, and there never seemed to be a shortage of laughter along the way.
Honestly, my husband and I could have happily stayed at Josephine and spent the rest of the evening talking with them. They are simply that kind of couple: warm, down-to-earth, and easy to know. They share a deep love for their faith and families, and it was a joy to spend this little piece of their engagement season getting to know them better.
A Special Full-Circle Moment
This session was especially meaningful to me for another reason. Last November, I had the privilege of photographing Sara’s twin sister’s wedding, so I was absolutely thrilled when Sara reached out about photographing her own wedding!
There is something especially sweet about being invited back into a family’s story. Having already celebrated one sister’s marriage, I feel so honored to now be preparing to photograph the beginning of another!
Counting Down to the Wedding Day
In just a few weeks, Nathan and Sara will be married at Sts. Peter and Paul in Potomac, Maryland. They are most looking forward to spending the day surrounded by their favorite people, and I already know it will be filled with so much laughter, joy, and love.
I cannot wait to celebrate alongside them and photograph the next chapter of their lives together. Until then, I am so happy we were able to spend this beautiful early summer evening back where so much of it began!
