I am so excited to feature this beautiful family on the blog today! I cannot get over how ADORABLE they all are! They were sweet, easy going, and just so happy to be together! We met at the Manassas Battlefield Park for their family photo session and couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful summer day in Northern Virginia!

PLEASE TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR FAMILY
We are a pretty large family! Originally a family of 5, mom, dad (Ann Beth & Kurt), 2 brothers, and me. My older brother, Kurt Jr, is married to Katie and has two perfect little boys, Grayson and Conor. I am married to David and have a baby boy, Ronan, as well. My younger brother, Zachary, is dating his longtime girlfriend, Alexandra, who we all love! Both of my brothers are about to move away, so we thought it was the perfect time for family photos! We are all a very close family and love going to the OBX, being silly, and spending time with each other.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE ALEXIS EL MASSIH PHOTOGRAPHY?
Looking at all of the photographers in the DMV area was overwhelming, but after looking at Alexis’ work, I knew she was perfect! I wanted to use a photographer that valued family and did not look at taking family photos as beneath them. I have worked in the wedding and events industry in DC for 8 years, and many photographers do not like to do family photos. Alexis was so amazing to work with and I look forward to using her again!!
HOW DID YOU PLAN YOUR FAMILY’S CLOTHING?
I wanted it to look cohesive, but also not that everyone was wearing the same thing. I look through a lot of ideas on Pinterest.
WHERE WAS YOUR SESSION HELD AND WHY?
We had our photos at the Manassas Battlefield. It was the perfect backdrop for the look we wanted!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE SESSION?
Being with our entire family and working with Alexis! She was so amazing to work with!
WAS THERE ANYTHING YOU WERE NERVOUS OR WORRIED ABOUT BEFORE HIRING A PHOTOGRAPHER? HOW DID YOU FEEL AFTERWARD?
I felt 100% confident when we hired Alexis. Based on the work I had seen, I did not have any worries the photos would be anything less than perfect.
OF ALL THE PHOTOS WE TOOK, WHICH IS YOUR #1 FAVORITE AND WHY?
The family sitting together! The way the tall grass and trees outline everyone sitting on the ground is so perfect!
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE TO OTHER FAMILIES BEFORE THEIR PHOTO SESSION?
Go through some different looks you want. Alexis gives great direction, but that way you help her out by having a direction.
HOW HAVE YOU USED THE IMAGES FROM YOUR SESSION, OR WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING TO DO WITH THEM? HOW HAVE YOUR FAMILY/FRIENDS REACTED TO THE IMAGES?
We plan to have portraits printed. The whole family is obsessed with the photos!!!
