This past July, I celebrated eleven years as a wedding photographer. It’s hard to believe more than a decade has passed since I made my business official. Today, I find myself enjoying it more than ever. In fact, this has been my busiest year in business – and somehow, also the most manageable and fulfilling.
A decade brings perspective. The industry shifts, trends come and go, and life itself changes shape around it all. With every passing year, I’ve learned that mastery isn’t about reaching a finish line. The more time you spend in your craft, the more humbling it becomes. There is no “top” — no place where learning stops, or mistakes don’t happen. Failures and missteps are not detours, but are simply part of the path. They are often the very moments that shape us the most.
And yet, even as the years bring change, some things remain constant. When I look back at my earliest work and compare it to today, there’s a throughline that has never wavered: an endless love for movement, texture, and the simple details that carry weight and depth within an image. For me, these are the elements that take a simple photograph and bring back how everything in that moment felt.
Eleven years in, I find myself both seasoned and new. I’m still learning, growing, and finding inspiration in the fleeting and unrepeatable blur of it all.
For couples seeking a DC wedding photographer, my approach is rooted in this balance: timeless artistry, modern perspective, and a deep reverence for the beauty of what endures.
