I had so much fun meeting Tanner and Amanda for their Georgetown Washington DC engagement photos. This classic, summer engagement session captured much of the neighborhood’s charm: beautiful waterfront views, historic side-streets and unique coffee shops! Although our first time meeting in person, spending the morning with Tanner and Amanda felt like meeting old friends. Their connection is sweet, conversation is easy and their love for each other is palpable! They have been a complete joy to work with so far and I cannot wait for their wedding this November! In the meantime, scroll for their love story, how he proposed and more of their Georgetown DC engagement session!
We met on Bumble here in DC and are forever grateful to the platform for connecting us! We are both busy with work, friends, family, church, running, etc – and felt we were ready to meet our person. We felt open to whatever God may have in store. Tanner sent Amanda a direct message on the app on the first day she had redownloaded Bumble in years. He responded to a photo of a half marathon that Amanda ran in 2021. He happened to also run in the same race!
Tanner thoughtfully planned Amanda’s dream day on Friday, April 5th! They both had the day off of work, so Tanner told Amanda to keep the day free! The day began with coffee at Dolcezza, which is the same spot where they had gelato for their first date. They enjoyed their coffee in Dupont Circle, then continued enjoying the sunshine with a beautiful walk through Georgetown. Tanner chose Yellow in Georgetown for breakfast, because it had been on Amanda’s must-try list for a while. They lucked out in finding a spot in a church garden near Yellow to munch on breakfast sandwiches. From there, Tanner ordered an Uber to the next surprise location – the National Cathedral! The National Cathedral School. (Fun fact: this is where their wedding ceremony and reception will be held this November!) The next coffee stop – Open City next to the Cathedral! (In case you can’t tell, Amanda’s ideal day includes quaint coffee shops, especially in unique and historic locations!) After they were sufficiently caffeinated, Tanner led Amanda through the garden next to the Cathedral, and then to Tregaron Conservancy. A milestone in their relationship – first time discussing the future in a serious way – took place in Tregaron! Sitting on a bench near a quiet pond – just the two of them – Tanner proposed to Amanda! Little did Amanda know that he had more surprises in store: both of their families had flown in from Kansas and Texas! And,the surprises didn’t end there. Tanner had planned a delicious family dinner that night, lunch the next day, dress shopping with the girls, and THEN a party with friends on Saturday night! Friends joined them from DC, NY and Florida. It was an unforgettable and magical weekend!
