Hand in hand with your loves under a canopy of cherry blossom trees…the sound alone has me dreaming of Spring in the DMV! DC Cherry Blossom Family Photos

Washington, D.C. is renowned for its stunning cherry blossoms, which bloom each spring, typically in late March to early April. These delicate pink and white blooms have given the city its most picturesque scenes around the Tidal Basin, the National Mall, and so many other iconic DC locations. Capturing the beauty of the cherry blossoms has become a popular pastime for both locals and tourists alike.

Location, Location, Location: East Potomac Park

Did you know there are *many* perfect locations for cherry blossom photos outside of the Tidal Basin? When Jessica reached out to me about capturing her with her boys, we found the East Potomac Park to be the perfect location! The East Potomac Park, home to the iconic Hains Point, is a beautiful waterfront park located in Washington DC. One of the most enchanting features of the park is the stunning rows upon rows of cherry blossom trees. Additionally, this park offers stunning views of the Potomac River and the Washington Monument, making it a popular spot for picnics, leisurely strolls, and of course, photo sessions!

FAQ: What is the best time to take Cherry Blossom Portraits in DC?

To take the best cherry blossom photos in Washington DC, I would recommend visiting in the early morning or late in the evening. This will help with avoiding crowds and capturing the soft, golden light. The Tidal Basin area offers some of the most iconic views of the cherry blossoms with the Jefferson Memorial in the background. If I may also recommend, the National Arboretum, the Kenmore neighborhood in Maryland, and the East Potomac Park as I mentioned above all have equally gorgeous views of cherry blossom trees! 😉 For more location suggestions, send me a message here!
